Read India: Summer Programme 2008

The summer camp of Read India campaign has been almost completed in  three Districts Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi and Thanjavur.  Five thousand and twenty centers started in 4520 villages.

Evaluation of Summer Camp of Read India

The evaluation as a sample has been done only in 50 villages in Thanjavur District.

The children covered in the Age group 8 and above are: 1048
The children covered in the Age group 5 to 7are: 285

The above table is represented by the bar charts below.

The comparison shows a decrease among the children of age group 5-7 because the children of this age group are new and just entering the primary level of their studies. The same children in the next two years will enter the better skill levels both in language and Maths.

Whereas the same comparison for 3 years shows that the percentage of the children in the age group of 8 and above has increased very much compared to the last 2 years status.
