B.Priya, Assistant Coordinator, Perambalur District

priya1I joined Vidyarambam as a tutor on 3.6.2005. I knew nothing about Vidyarambam at that time. I was given training in Jayankondam.  I was scared not being sure of how I would perform.  Ms.Revathi was my Assessor. She taught me every thing stage by stage.

I had 25 children to teach.  Next year the Trust  reduced it to 20 and I conducted the center very well. I got “BEST TEACHER” award. As a tutor I learnt how to take lessons and how to handle children.

The children who studied with me are now in class IV in schools. Whenever they see me they affectionately address me as ‘Akka’and say ‘Good morning Akka’. I am happy to hear that.  These days, the children forget their last year’s teacher. But my students remember me even after four years. I got good respect from the parents also.  After serving as tutor for 2 years, I was promoted as Assessor.  I was supervising 15 centers.  During this period I participated in many training programs and learnt a lot. I was guided by the coordinator Vimala to develop the centers. I had studied only up to 10th STD like many others in the organization.  We all took correspondence course and completed STD 12. Moreover, I learnt typewriting and computer also.  From Vidyarambam I learnt to read English properly using phonic method.  Now I have been promoted as Asst Coordinator and feel extremely happy.  I have not worked anywhere else. I would like to work always for Vidyarambam.  My thanks to Vidyarambam.
