SUPPLEMENTARY LEARNING IN LANGUAGE AND ARITHMETIC

Objective

Conduct support class to attain COMPETENCE IN LANGUAGE AND ARITHMETIC for students of classes 2 to 5 for about ten months and prepare her to learn other subjects on her own.

Why the need to help?

These children have never had a strong foundation in language and numbers. They are not able to read fluently and have difficulty with comprehension. In arithmetic struggle to do simple addition and subtraction. Both parents not educated sufficiently and are unable to support their wards' education. What the children learn from their school is the end of it.

Student’s profile

She, as a routine, goes to school, memorizes the concepts without understanding, copies whatever is written on the blackboard. In spite of schooling for 3 or 4 years she is unable to read a word in her own language and do simple two digit arithmetic.

After you help what will happen to her?

She will be enrolled into one of the Vidyarambam Support Classes and given intensive practice to form words and sentences. For numerical literacy, the teaching would be a conceptual approach. adopting play-way methods, rather than a procedural one. She will be made proficient in language and prepared to meet the challenge of education in regular schools.

What would be the cost?

Rs. 900/- per student per term of about 10 months.

You can sponsor as many children as you can up to a maximum of 5000 children in multiples of 20
