Independence Day celebratedThe Rotary Central Vidyarambam Nursery and Primary School The School celebrated the 63rd Independence Day of our Nation in a grand manner on Saturday, August 15, 2009. The National Flag was hoisted at 8.00 a.m. in the school premises by one of the parents Mr. Jayachandran. The cultural events took place in the afternoon The evening programme started at 3.30 p.m. with Activity corners where students met the challenging questions of the parents. Corners for Mathematics, Science, EVS, Art and paintings were organized and a set of children in each group received the parents and demonstrated their skills. The District Collector of Nagapattinam Mr. C. Munianathan I.A.S. was the chief guest. He went round the Activity corner and interacted with the children asking them many questions. Tree Planting was the next event. New trees were planted by the District Collector, District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. K. Anbazhagi, Nagore Lions Club President Mr. S. Narayanan, Nagai Rotary Club past President Mr. G. Sundar, Aircel Dealer Mr. V. P. Nagaraj and the School Correspondent Mr. V. Ranganathan. Then, Ms. T. Karthika, State Coordinator, Vidyarambam Trust gave a welcome address followed by the cultural program performed by the school children. Children enacted the roles of National leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Kattabomman, Mahakavi Barathiyar. The children of Annai Sathya Home performed a wonderful dance mixed with yoga skills. The District Collector and the Dist Social Welfare Officer gave away the prices for those who performed the cultural activities. The District Collector in his speech appreciated the skill of the students in the activity corners and the cultural performance of the children. He praised the social service rendered by the Rotary Club and Vidyarambam by providing good education for the children of the families affected by Tsunami. There was a big gathering of parents witnessing the events. The District Collector, other guests and all the audience enjoyed the whole event which ended at 5.55 p.m with National Anthem. |
