Overview

There are EIGHT programmes that are currently being conducted by Vidyarambam:

  • KIDS - providing literacy to pre-primary and Class I children
  • Support Class Junior - Improve the reading ability and doing simple arithmetic for students of class II & III
  • Support Class Senior - providing support classes for students of Class IV and V.
  • Easy Learning English - Easy Learning English for students of STD VI, VII and VIII.
  • Model School - A Full Time Nursery and Primary School.
  • Libraries - More than 250 children story books as further reading materials made available at each centre.
  • Mobile Toy Library - About 250 toys and games stored in a van that travels village to village and allows children to play with games for 2 hours.
  • Easy Learning Computers - Computer learning made easy for rural children and women. About 5 computers will be made available in each of Vidyarambam Computer Learning Centers.
We aim to ensure that in each village where a centre is opened, there will be:
  • KIDS Center for the age group 4-6
  • 10-month Support Course (Junior) programme for Class 2 & 3 students
  • 10-month Support Course (Senior) programmes for Class 4 and 5 students
  • A library consisting of more than 250 children-story books
  • A Village Development Group to monitor the Vidyarambam operations in the respective village

Vidyarambam's initial aim was to get children started on their journey through literacy but now, the Trust continues to provide support classes through the support course programmes for the children already in Class 2, 3, 4 and 5 but weak in their mother tounge (Tamil) and simple arithmetic.

It is our aim that every child in a village that has a Vidyarambam centre will attend school.
