Rotary Vidyarambam School – After 6 weeks

The first week of the new school witnessed cries and commotion from the toddlers.  By the end of the second week when the children came in uniform dress for the first time, all appeared to be serious about learning and they were no longer kids!

The informal teaching of languages English and Tamil, and numbers were initiated from the third week through the fifth week.  The total of 131 students from LKG to STD 2 seated in 7 class rooms have ample space to move around and play.

Our consultant faculties Mrs. Prema Daniel and Mrs. Uma Sankari Chandrasekhar visited the school for the first time after the inauguration and spent about two days with the children and the teachers.   Many suggestions for improvement and guidance were given by them.   They even took classes of story telling, singing, puppet making and games and activities  to develop fine motor skills.

From the sixth week the formal education (still adopting play-way methodology of Vidyarambam) was launched using regular timetables based on thematic activities.  The activity centre was set up to initiate computer education, collage art work, coloring, spoken English thro showing film, botanical experiments like sowing seeds and watching the germination and growth day by day.

Many new games and toys were introduced to the thrill of the kids who enjoy schooling more than anything else

All children greet any visitor.  Older ones say a few small sentences in English.  All of them have picked the concept of counting, addition and subtraction of numbers depending on the level of their age.

The talk of the town has prompted one headmaster of a nearby Govt. school to visit our school with curiosity to know what  the  method and approach   Vidyarambam could be employing.
