Recognizing the pressing need of teaching basic grammar of English language for the students in rural Govt. schools, Vidyarambam went about developing and designing a course ‘EASY LEARNING ENGLISH’. The content of the course has been designed to easily read the language using phonics, acquire the skill to refer dictionary, learn the basic grammar, write small sentences with correct spelling and grammar and converse in simple English among their peers.

We started in the academic year 2009-2010 for VIII class students and due to the request from the Head Masters of the schools, we have extended the program to the Classes VI and VII also in the subsequent year.

Current status of the program

* Classes for VII and VI will be taken in the 3rd and 4th quarters of the year after which the total No. of enrolled Students will cross 9,000 in the year 2011-2012.

Winners are awarded with a KIT of gifts of good English Story books, a Dictionary, 14 colorful Tiny books, Aviva Note Books and a few stationery items for obtaining ranks at the School, District and State levels. The response of the winning students was amazing when they were asked to give their opinion about the course. They said that they never dreamt that they could also speak, read and write English so easily. The headmasters and the teachers of 137 schools were appreciative of the effort of Vidyarambam to achieve good result in coaching English.

The above 137 schools are requesting us to continue the support and many more schools are asking us to introduce the same support of providing Easy Learning English in the coming years also. Out of experience gained, Vidyarambam is adopting the following model for coaching the basic English language successfully using ‘EASY LEARNING ENGLISH’.

1. The duration of the course will be 3 months of 12 weekly sessions
2. The Teaching Learning Material (TLM) developed by Vidyarambam
3. Each session will be of 3 hours during the school timing
4. At the end of every session a Home Work sheet is given
5. The teacher student ratio will be 1:30
6. The students will have the support for 3 years continuously
7. Reading practice is a feature to improve the pronunciation
8. Story telling exercise is to help improve comprehension
9. Group conversation among students using simple English
10. There will be 3 types of Tests. 1. Diagnostic 2. Mid-term 3. Final
11. Finally the Rank holders are awarded with a KIT of gifts
