The Third Annual Day of the Model School

The Third Annual Day of the Rotary Central Vidyarambam Nursery & Primary School at Nagapattinam was held in a grand manner on March 5, 2011 at the school premises. The event was presided over by Rtn. N. Jayachandhiran (President of the Rotary Club of Madras Central). Other dignitaries who were present were Rtn. Velusamy, Rtn. Major Donor V.Govindarajalu , Principal, Desikar Polytechnic College, Valivalam, Rtn. Major Donor N. Govindaraj, Mr. R. Veerasamy (Chief Educational Officer, Nagapattinam District), Mr. V. P. Nagaraj (Aircel Dealer, Nagai District), Mr. V. Sriram (Treasurer of Vidyarambam) and Mr. S. Selvaganapathi (Secretary, Nagapattinam District Athletic Association).

The Rotarians were appreciative of the work done to educate children with quality Material and Methodology in the Tsunami-affected areas and were forthcoming to offer any kind of support to the continued running of the school. The school Annual Report was read out by Ms. T. Karthika, Project Manager, Vidyarambam Trust. The school children performed a variety of dances and entertained the audience. Children from 2nd to 4th standards were then presented prizes for academic excellence and sports and cultural competitions held the previous day. The prizes for KG and 1st standard students were given to the respective teachers for distribution to the children.

The highlight of the program was the award to the Best Student in the whole school, which was won by Kiruthika of the I Standard. Mr. Sriram came forward to support this child for her further education following which the Rotarians assured support to the second and third Best Students. The Rotarians also assured support to the school in the form of additional computers. Mr. Selvaganapathi promised to train our school teachers to conduct the sports meet in better manner. The event ended on a highly optimistic note with encouraging words of advice to the students.
