In 5 districts of Tamilnadu, 31 Govt. schools were chosen for imparting training on Easy Learning English a 5-month course designed and developed by Vidyarambam. Boys and girls inclusive 1100 students of STD VIII participated. The content of the course was designed to easily read the language using phonics, acquire the skill to refer dictionary, learn the basic grammar, write small sentences with correct spelling and grammar and converse in simple English among their peers. At the start of the course 75% of the students were at FAILED level obtaining marks less than 40 per cent in the entry test. At the end, 64% of them have scored marks more than 40 percent and PASSED in the final test . Out of 1,100 students who took training, 105 of them have been awarded with gifts of good English Story books for obtaining ranks at the School, District and State levels. The response of the winning students was amazing when they were asked to give their opinion about the course. They said that they never dreamt that they could also speak, read and write English so easily. The headmasters and the teachers of all the 31 schools were appreciative of the effort of Vidyarambam to successfully achieve good result in coaching English. Not only the above 31 schools but many more schools have asked to repeat the same support of providing Easy Learning English in the coming year also. Out of experience gained, Vidyarambam is planning to make following changes in the model of the training.
